He has been in delicate health for several years. His last fatal illness has been since February. R W Shepard was born in Mason County, Kentucky, Feb. 25, 1825. He was 56 years, 4 months, and 8 days. He came to Missouri in 1848 and has since resided in this vicinity. He was a merchant in this place for fourteen years, starting the first store that was ever in the village. He is the father of J D Shepard. He leaves a large family to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and a loving father. He embraced religion in the thirty-first of his age and has since lived the life of a devoted Christian. The community sympathizes with the bereaved family. His loss will be deeply felt in this community, as he was loved and respected by all who knew him.
