Obituary from flammfh.com:
Jerald Clifton Crittenden, 82, of Rexburg passed from this life peacefully on September 7, 2021.
He was born on a cold, snowy night at the home of his paternal grandparents in Francis, Utah on March 15, 1939. He is the 3rd child and 2nd son of Clifton Millard Crittenden and Ruth Norine Frazier. It was on that night that he received his nickname 'Jug'. An uncle came in to see the new baby and declared that he was "no bigger than a jug". The nickname stuck with him for the rest of his life.
He participated in football, basketball, track, boxing and summer baseball and graduated from South Summit High School in Kamas, Utah. He had a love of sports of all kinds and was a gifted athlete. Later, he became a football and wrestling coach to thousands of young athletes. He loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Loralie Best, on October 12, 1956, in the Salt Lake Temple while sporting a broken leg. He earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in education from Utah State University.
He taught school for 40 years, starting in Ashton, Idaho and then Roosevelt and Murray, Utah, and finally moved to Rexburg, Idaho where he taught for the last 30 years of his career. He also taught many teenagers how to drive in the treacherous Idaho weather. He retired in 2004.
He was a lively member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After they retired from teaching, he and his sweet wife fulfilled four missions; Zagreb Croatia, Donetsk Ukraine, Micronesia Guam and Cape Coast Ghana.
He is survived by his wife, Loralie of Rexburg; children, Jeralie (James) Nash of Ashton, Cliff (Sheila) Crittenden of St. Anthony, Kirt (Karina) Crittenden of Herriman, UT, Ruth (Keven) Glider of Rexburg, Gailiene (Melvin) Rudd of Sugar City, Stanley (Bernice) Crittenden of Archer, Jim (Erin) Crittenden of Idaho Falls; 34 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Thom (Tana) Crittenden of St. George, UT; a sister, Norine (Tom)
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Rae Page, and one brother, Jimmie Frazier Crittenden.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Perpetual Education Fund.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 11, at the Henry's Fork Stake Center, 1508 W 3000 N, Rexburg, Idaho. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30-7:00 PM at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N 1st E, in Rexburg, Idaho, and Saturday from 10:00-10:45 AM at the Stake Center prior to services.
