Oscar Milton Ammons, 73, of Huntsville died May 29. He was retired from the U.S. Navy having served in many countries including Vietnam in 1968 during the Tet Offensive during which he was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellison and Mary Ann Ammons, and brother, Harold Ammons.
He is survived by his wife, Prudence Ammons; two stepdaughters, Heather Beasley and Deborah Howard; five step-grandchildren, Dylanger Kay and Brandy Chamberlain and Peter, Juanita and Corenna Howard; eight step-greatgrandchildren; sister-in-law, Shizuko Ammons; nephew, Jamie Ammons; niece, Mary Anne Ammons; and greatnieces and great-nephews, Britney Gammons, Madison Farmer, Blake Farmer and Nate Ammons.
Military services and burial will be held at Maine Veteran's Cemetery in Augusta, Maine. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
