A native of Estill County, he was the son of the late Elmer and Mary Ella Stone Allen. He retired from A.O. Smith in Mt. Sterling and was a member of American Legion, Post No. 19. A native veteran of World War II, he had been a member of Central Baptist Church since April 1947.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bev and Donna Allen of Winchester; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Kenneth Sipes of Harrison County; five grandchildren and their spouses, Susan Allen, Joy and Joe Rivers, Kenneth and Darlene Sipes Jr., Paul and Michele Sipes and Heather and Jeff Juett; 11 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Cleta Allen of Estill County; nine sisters-in-law and their spouses, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis Allen and Linval Allen.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. Dennis Wainright and the Rev. Bill Bean. Burial will be in Clarmont Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Sipes, Kenny Sipes, Paul Sipes, Jeff Juett, Joe Rivers and Kurt Michelson; honorary, Dr. Joseph Ott, Tommy Bunch and members of Mr. Allen?s Sunday School class at Central Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today.
