Lyle passed peacefully at 82 years of age in the Oregon City, OR home of his younger daughter Tanya, on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
Lyle was born in 1939 in Downey, Idaho to Kenneth and Delores Hadfield. He had an older brother and a younger sister. His mother later married Andrew "Mark" Andersen and the children were adopted by Mark. Mark and Delores were blessed with another son, Reese. Lyle was raised primarily in Arimo, Idaho and in Arbon Valley, Idaho. He graduated from Marsh Valley High School. He loved the outdoors and was most happy when he was on the ranch or in the mountains. He loved being at at the ranch; riding horses, hunting, raising chickens, feeding the pigs and gathering eggs, among many other things. As a kid, he enjoyed going fishing and camping with his Dad. He also loved cooking and canning, something that he was exposed to by his grandmother; whom he stayed with while his mom worked at the small cafe in town. His mother baked wedding cakes, and his dad always had a huge garden. He helped his mom deliver wedding cakes, and can all of the beautiful produce from the garden. His parents were very generous and Lyle was often asked to deliver food from the garden to neighbors who needed it. His whole life he loved to cook and can food. Later in life, he started making pepper jelly and giving it to friends and neighbors. He was so excited when people told him they loved his pepper jelly. He also loved the Oregon coast, and he made many trips to that area. After his retirement, Lyle and Shanna very much enjoyed work camping in campgrounds, KOA and National parks.
Lyle met the love of his life in high school. Shanna Lee Cammack was living nearby in McCammon, Idaho. Lyle fell in love with her right away. He gained favor with Shanna's mom because he loved helping her make candy; he especially liked pulling taffy with her. Lyle and Shanna were married in the LDS Logan Temple in March 1959. They raised 5 children together, 2 girls and 3 boys. Lyle loved to take his family to the ranch. He also loved taking the family camping. We enjoyed many summer trips to Redfish Lake and he did many backpacking trips in the Sawtooth Mountains with family and friends. He was very involved in the Boy Scout program and led many camping and backpacking trips over the years. Lyle was a salesman for his entire working life. He sold shoes, furniture, appliances, life insurance, hunting and camping supplies, western clothing and horse tack, and even cars and trucks. He definitely had the gift of gab and would talk to anybody and everybody. Lyle and Shanna lived in Boise, Idaho for many years, and later lived in a variety of places including Oregon City, Oregon; Kennewick, Washington; Newberg, Oregon; and Dripping Springs, Texas.
Lyle loved his family more than anything. He loved his kids, but loved his grandkids the most. Lyle and Shanna loved to have the grandkids visit, and they would always show them a great time. Lyle was saddened by the death of his older brother Dean, and his younger brother Reese. He was most saddened by the tragic death of his youngest son Lorin in 1991.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, both of his brothers and his son.
He is survived by his sister Lucile Howard. He leaves behind his beloved Shanna, daughter Wendy (William) Adams in Bonney Lake, WA; son Scott (Jen Meyer) in Priest River, ID; son Wayne (Renae) in Portugal; and daughter Tanya Fee, in Oregon City, OR. Lyle had 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
Lyle has always wanted to be laid to rest in his beloved Arbon Valley. His remains will be interred there, at a future date.
