Mrs. Mary J. McKee, Pioneer of County, is Dead at Exeter
Mrs. Mary J. McKee died suddenly at 8 o'clock last evening in the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. T. Britten, 512 South 'E' street Exeter. Mrs. McKee had been in poor health during the past five years. She was born on January 27, 1855. She became the bride of William A. McKee in 1871 in Joplin, Missouri, and 46 years ago came with her husband over the plains in a covered wagon to Tulare county, most of the time since residing in Lemon Cove. Mr. McKee died in 1911. Surviving are two sons, Ernest McKee of Yettem and Earl A. McKee of Three Rivers; and three daughters, Mrs. Lena Hindman and Mrs. H.T. Britton of Exeter, and Mrs. C. E. Harshemberger of Fullerton. Funeral services will be conducted from the Hadley and Locey parlors at 9:30 o'clock Sunday morning. Rev. Warren Elsing willhave charge of the services in Visalia. Interment will be made by the side of her husband in the Woodlake cemetery, Rev. Jackson Smith of Woodlake in charge of the committment service. Mrs. McKee was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church and with her husband was identified with many pioneer projects of Tulare county.
