Fred Evans was born the 10th of ten children of William Maylan Evans and Amanda Becket Boone in Dunlap, IA. He grew up on the family farm in Harrison county.

About 1910 he and his surviving siblings relocated to the Robin, ID area where they each developed a homestead. Fred's homestead was in Hawkins Basin, while his brothers were at Robin. During the early 1920's and '30's he worked as a cook at restaurants in Pocatello.

He married Alma "Allie" I Armstrong in 1915 and they were later divorced. They were the parents of two children, Murray V Evans and Willis D Evans.

In addition to the siblings listed with parents William M Evans and Amanda Boone Evans, there is one sister not linked there: Olive Evans Ragan burial unknown.
