October 1, 1931 ~ August 31, 2021 (age 89)

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Landry Catholic Church Fr. Neil Petitt will conduct the mass. Visitation will be Friday September 3, 2021, at 4 PM until 9PM with a Rosary at 6:30 PM in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas Chapel.

Glyn entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Glyn Proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, in 1974 Glyn was awarded the First Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Force Commendation Medal. Durio was cited for meritorious service while serving as Senior Director of Alpha Crew, Directorate of Operations, Hq, 20th Air Division at Ft. Lee Air Force Station in Prince George, Virginia. During this period Glyn's outstanding professionalism, knowledge and leadership abilities aided immeasurably in enhancing mission accomplishments for the 20th NORAD Region Air Division. The Distinctive accomplishments of Lieutenant Colonel Durio culminates a distinguished career in the service of his country as a Master Controller. During his time in the military Glyn served in Vietnam at the Vietnam Advisory Camp from December 1961 – May 1962 and the Vietnam Defense camp from June 1965 – September 1965. Glyn was a member of the Louisiana Retired Military Officers Association of Acadiana. After his time in the military Glyn went on to be a School Teacher for many years at Opelousas High School.

Glyn was Eucharistic Minister of St. Landry Parish and a dedicated member of St. Landry Catholic Church and the Opelousas Community Choir. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Glyn is survived by his wife of 8 years Barbara Grogan Durio of Opelousas; sons Michael R. Durio of Arizona and Bryan P. Durio (Laura) of Lawrenceville Georgia; daughter, Anne Durio Fitzpatrick of Switzerland; grandchildren, Marguerite Durio, Andrew Fitzpatrick and Eleanor Fitzpatrick.

Glyn is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Beulah Durio; his daughter, Dorothy Durio Collins and his first wife of 55 years Bessie Guedry Durio.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
