Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Clair Winston Rogers passed away Sunday afternoon comfortably and peacefully, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Clair was born the eldest of six boys to William Edward and Gwendolyn Bushman Rogers. Born in Joseph City, Arizona on November 17, 1931 at the start of The Great Depression. He was born with cerebral palsy in a time when disabilities were poorly understood and even more poorly treated. The doctors of that era said that due to his disability Clair would never walk, he would be a burden on his family, he would be put into an institution and he should never have a family of his own. He, of course, proved each of these things wrong and never allowed his disability to define him. Clair's love and faith in God gave him the ability to overcome every obstacle and limiting belief put before him. His determination, intellect, strength and skill elevated him far beyond his disability. If you've ever seen him walk at any point in his nearly 90 years, it is safe to say that no one has ever fallen down and picked themselves up again as many times as he has.
Clair has lived an extraordinary life of faith and honor. In his dedication to God he lived every principle restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. His love for plural marriage molded his beautiful family. He was married to two faithful women; Alice Cannon and the late Helen Doxey.
Clair was a perfect example of what a man should be and stand for. He was not afraid to show emotion, be vulnerable, love with all of his heart, humbly put everything into what you care about, show gratitude, never complain when there is so much to be thankful for, nothing is too hard and you can become whatever you are willing to work for.
As a successful entrepreneur, Clair was the owner and president of Rogers Research and Analysis Company for over 50 years. Throughout his life, Clair was many things: son, brother, student, friend, farmer, mathematician, chemist, engineer, "rocket-man," metallurgist, miner, teacher, healer, Bishop, Mr. Midwife, (who delivered over 2300 babies in his life) and the unwavering solid foundation of his large and loving family.
Clair was the father to 16 adoring children. He is survived by his wife Alice; five brothers (William, Bruce, Richard, John and Doug); 15 children: Scott (Peggy), Ted (Teresa), Karl (Holly), Kathy (Ron & the late Keith Allred), Robert (Marianne), Jonathan (Stacey), Luke (Angie), Alice (Jeff), Moses (Amanda), Mary (Dave), Tom (Torie), Jared (Dollie, Jessica), Bill (Jenna), Greg, John (Amber); 64 grandchildren, and 60 great-grandchildren.
He was a profoundly humble and kind man who gave all honor and glory to God, and had an unconditional Christ-like love. We take comfort in the great joy of his long-awaited reunion with his parents, his loving wife Helen, and his son Win. We know he will hear the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Clair has earned his eternal rest and his welcome home. We send him on his way with immeasurable gratitude and love for all he has given to bless and heal our lives. Love you Dad and Godspeed.
Funeral services for Clair will be held in Rocky Ridge, Utah at MLA Chapel located at 157 N. East Ridge Rd. Viewings will be Wednesday, Sept 1, 2021 from 6 to 8 in the evening and 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, prior to funeral at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Riverton City Cemetery.
