Al DiDomenico "Preacher,'' 87, of Akron, passed away April 19, 2006, at City Hospital, after a short illness.

Al was born in Wilburton, Okla., and came to the Akron area at a young age. He was a letter carrier on North Hill for more than 30 years. Al served his country bravely in the South Pacific during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters.

His memberships included St. Anthony Church, Carovillese Society, and Dean Heights.

Preceded in death by parents, Antonio and Tecla, and brother, Joseph, he is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Angela; sons, Danny (Denise), David and former wife, Lori; daughter, Diane (Art) Dalton; grandchildren, Marissa, Jordan, Katie, David, Erik, Ashley, Emily, April, and Elly; brothers, Angelo of Denver, Colo., and Danny of Akron; sister, Lucy Ciolli; and sister-in-law, Sadie of Cuyahoga Falls.

A thanks to Dr. Fuenning, Dr. Makar, Dr. Shaub, and the entire staff of City Hospital. A special thanks to son-in-law, Dr. Art Dalton.

Al was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him. He loved his family deeply and was loved in return by them.

We will miss you, Papa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at HENNESSY Funeral Home (near St. Thomas Hospital), 552 N. Main St., Akron. For those desiring, donations may be made to the church.
