Mary Bell DeHaven Adams, 88, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Thursday, December 25, 2008, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mrs. Adams was born in 1920, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Hutchison and Mary Bell DeHaven. She was raised by the late Charles and Bertha Emery of Gainesboro, Virginia. Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

Her husband, Kenneth R. Adams, whom she married on May 22, 1938, in Alexandria, Virginia, preceded her in death in 1996.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Jackson, Kaye Rush and husband Bill, all of Winchester, Virginia, Mary Faye Carver and husband Earl of Stephens City, Virginia; three sons, Steve Adams and wife Barbara of Inwood, West Virginia, Jimmy Adams and wife Pat of Columbia, South Carolina, Jerry Adams of Harrisonburg, Virginia; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; her sister, Georgie Adams and husband E.W., Jr. of Gainesboro, Virginia.

One sister, Mabel Kirk and three brothers, Alexander, Wilson and William DeHaven, preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, at Omps, South Chapel, with Reverend Steve Melester officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
