Walter Dwaine Basham, 88, of Dallas passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021. He was born in Grandview, Texas on August 26, 1933 to Kermit and Frances Boteler Basham. He has two living siblings, Travis Basham of Houston, TX and Lleta Scoggins of Santa Fe, NM and one deceased brother, Malcom Basham. He graduated from Venus High School in 1950. He served proudly in the U.S. Army in Japan during the Korean conflict from 1954 to 1956. Upon his completion of his military obligation, he was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He enrolled and studied at SMU to pursue a Business Degree. The Bank enrolled him in its executive training program. After completing his Bachelor's degree in 1964, he enrolled in the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin.

He completed 38 years of service with the Federal Reserve Bank when the first early retirement plan was offered by the Board of Governors. The Bank offered additional employment under a special contract to complete goals that had been established earlier. This continued for two years making a total service period of 40 years. The service was a rewarding occupation.

Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies. Excursions to Argentina, Alaska, Caribbean, Mexico and local sites were refreshing and enjoyable.

He met and married Myrlene Henry on January 31, 1958. They had two children: Michael Lynn Basham and Karen Leigh Basham Easley; two granddaughters: Lauren Nicole Easley Stockman (Blane) and Melissa Rachelle Easley; and four great-grandchildren: Landon Jeffery Stockman, Addison Tyler Stockman, Rylee Faith Stockman, and Kinley Reece Vinson.

Services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Anderson Clayton Gonzalez Funeral Home with Visitation 10am-11am with service to follow; burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
