Mrs. Edna T. Bishop, age 87, of Douglasville, GA passed away Friday, April 24, 2009. She was born Dec. 14, 1921 in Butts County, GA daughter of the late Arthur Washington Tucker and John Porter Torbett. She was also preceded in death by her husband George Bishop , 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Mrs. Bishop was retired from The Farmer's Home Administration. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Douglasville, Life Builders Sunday School class, and Oaks senior fellowship and bible study group.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Bishop Dessommes of Statesboro, GA; son-in-law Lawrence Kelly Dessommes; grandchildren, Lucy Renee Dessommes-Lux and her husband Jason Lux, Lawrence Bishop Dessommes, Melanie Anne Dessommes, George Kelly Dessommes; brother Ray Tucker and his wife Sandra; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday April 28, 2009 from 5-8 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Max Caylor and Rev. Bill Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
