Karen Dian Doak

July, 2 1942 – August, 28 2021

Karen Dian Merchant Doak, born on July 2, 1942, in Albuquerque, NM passed away on August 28, 2021, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Dian, the oldest of three siblings, was born to Velma Frances Reeves "Young" and John Joseph Merchant. She grew up in Oklahoma City with her siblings, later moving to Dallas and then to Tulsa, Oklahoma for more than 30 years. Last year, Dian moved to Edmond, OK to be closer to family.

Dian was always very artistic, doodling and drawing from a young age. She was innately creative and primarily self-taught, teaching herself computer skills, jewelry making, sewing, and her latest passion quilting – where her skills greatly shone. Recently, Dian loved attending quilting conferences with her sisters, Marcia and Krissie, and creating beautiful quilts for her four granddaughters and others in her community. Her creativity went beyond sewing; she loved writing and spent many years editing and writing for her local DAR organization's publication (newsletter). Her family was a great source of joy and pride.

Dian is respected and loved by many people and leaves behind many who hold cherished memories of times spent together, most especially her family. Dian is survived by her daughters Leslie Wiewel-Manning and husband Alan Manning, Edmond, OK; Tina Morton and husband Jeff Morton; four granddaughters Jessica Wiewel Wilkes, Taylor Wiewel, Madison Morton and Isabel Morton; her sisters – Marcia Siefert, Brunswick, OH; Kristina Carroll and husband Jim Carroll, Nashville, TN; Her brother Mark Merchant and wife LaQuita Merchant, Aubrey, TX; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. Dian is preceded in death by her father Joe Merchant and mother Frances Reeves Young

Services will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.
