Our mother, Jerry Powell, passed into eternity on August 26, 2021 at the age of 85 years old. As a resident of Columbia, MS, Jerry was the owner of Jerry's Flower Shoppe on Church Street and the manager of Fantasy Fabrics in Columbia. She was dedicated to her family, active in community events, and later in life cherished her membership at Calvary Baptist Church. For the past few years, Jerry lived in Royston, Georgia with her son where she was a proud member of Peniel IPH Church. Jerry is preceded in death by the man to whom she devoted her life, her husband Charles W. Powell with whom she shared many adventures; her parents, AJ Barber and Katherine Barber; sisters, Jo Selman, Jacqueline Cerniglia; and brother, "Buddy" Barber. Surviving Mrs. Powell is her sister, Jan Clark; brother, James Barber; her daughter, Mary Harold; son, Charles Powell; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services, officiated by Reverend Millard Moak of Calvary Baptist Church, will be held on Friday September 3, 2021 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, MS.
