Marion C. "Sonny" Basso, 90, of Walshville, IL, died on Monday, August 23, 2021 in Callaway County, MO due to a result of a motor vehicle accident with his wife, Linda Rose Basso. He was born October 20, 1930, in Litchfield, IL to Marion J. Basso & Mary T. (Tkach) Basso. He married Linda Rose (Rekart) Basso on August 28, 1993 in Mt. Olive, IL. He was a lineman for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company. He was a veteran after having served with the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Springfield, IL and Elks Club of Litchfield, IL. He enjoyed R/C airplanes, riding horses and leather burning. He is survived by his sister, Doris Dooley of Saint Louis, MO, nieces and nephews, Thomas Dooley of Saint Louis, MO, Deborah (Brett) West of Madison, IN, Karen (Elmer) Gaus of Chesterfield, MO, Jeanne (Don) Server of Hanover, IN, great nieces and great nephews, Alex Gaus, Travis Server, Mark Server, Heather Boots, Rob Rohrer, Lisa (Brandon) Mack, great great nieces and great great nephews, Jenna Rohrer, Olivia Mack, Jake Mack and Luke Mack. Marion was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at SS Simon & Jude Church, Gillespie, IL from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm with the funeral at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Gillespie, IL.
