PATERNAL lineage Carlos Lyndon CHILDS ( Clifford⁴ Joseph³, Isaac², unknown Childs¹ of Massachusetts)


Carlous Lyndon Childs, 80, a resident of Upton, he died Nov. 20, 2007 at the V.A. Medical Center, Fort Meade, S.D., after a lengthy illness.


He was born Jan. 31, 1927 at the Deep Creek Childs homestead in Weston County to Clifford E. and Ida (Kuemmerle) Childs. He boarded in town while attending Upton High School and had fond memories of playing football.


After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the Army and served in Panama during WWII. He attended the University of Wyoming and was a member of the UW traveling football team. After starting his senior year, he was called back to the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th division of the 5th Army in the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged from service on Sept. 23, 1951 as a Master Sergeant.


On Jan. 9, 1952, he married Lydia Jane Rinehart b. 1930 in Rapid City, S.D. The couple lived on the Childs and Rinehart family ranches until his death.


He was a 32nd degree Mason initiated passed and raised in the Newcastle Masonic Lodge #13.


He enjoyed living and working on the ranch, hunting (especially with his black powder rifle), watching football always rooting for the underdog, watching professional bull riding, reading and telling amusing stories.


His family will always remember him for the many poems that flowed out of his mouth for every occasion. Some short, some long and some with added versions that would always rhyme.


Most of all he loved his wife and family. He was always there in good times and trying times for each of them. He also enjoyed and stayed in touch with many true friends he met through out the years of his life. He leaves to remember and celebrate his life his wife,

  2. Linda Childs of Carrollton, Texas,
  3. Laura Childs of Gillette,
  4. Larry Childs and wife of Trinidad, Colo.,
  5. Luann Borgialli and husband of Wright;



  1. four grandchildren, siblings, Joe Childs of Newcastle, Audrey Meyers of Florence, Ariz., and Esley Holwell of Casper and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford Childs and Ida


Burial will be at the Upton Greenwood Cemetery with Masonic and military honors.
