He was born at Harper's Valley in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. He was the son of George Alexander and Mary Ann (Capshaw) Batts. He married Mable Tolbert on Dec. 6, 1932 at Ashland, Oklahoma. He was a quarterhorse breeder and cattle rancher. He passed away at a manor in Stigler at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mable, on March 8, 2001; sisters Pearl Standridge Allford and Ethel Sisco Lane and great-grandaughter Allyson Mackenzie Murphy.
