Jean Margery (Schuchard) Nantkes, the daughter of Herman and Edna (LaFond) Schuchard, was born on March 31, 1928 in Evanston, IL. At the age of 3, her family moved to Little Falls, MN. When she was 12, she accepted the Lord as her Savior. Jean received her education at Little Falls Schools. After graduation she spent two years at Northwestern College in Minneapolis, MN. She worked at Donaldsons and Daytons in Minneapolis for several years. In 1952 Jean was united in marriage to Jesse John Nantkes of Fulda, MN. After their marriage they farmed northeast of Fulda until his retirement in 1980. In 1983 they built a retirement home overlooking Lime Creek in Des Moines Township. Jean remained at home after Jesse passed away in September of 2002. Jean passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Society at the age of 93. She was interested in gardening, especially flowers. Jean enjoyed feeding birds. She played the organ at her church for over 30 years. Jean belonged to Home Extension for many years and was active in her church. She was president of the Baptist State Ladies Association for 3 years. Jean enjoyed her family, neighbors and church family.

Survivors include her 2 children, Grayson (Myra) Nantkes and Linda (Don) Petruno; grandson, Jesse (Tara) Nantkes; 2 great-grandchildren, Anders and Helania; sister, Kathryn Verley and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Don Schuchard.

Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church Westbrook, MN at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 26, 2021 with Pastor Rob Adams officiating. Interment at Prairie Hill Cemetery Fulda, MN. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Baptist Church in Westbrook or Missionary Acres. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements.
