Mrs. Velma Ann Sloan Sosa, 58 of Blackshear, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Memorial Satilla Health.

Born in Blackshear, GA on March 19, 1963, she had lived in Pierce County all of her life. Velma was a 1981 graduate of Blackshear High School. She was a homemaker but had also spent her time being a caregiver to many including her three grandchildren after the death of their mother, Becky. Velma loved animals especially cats and dogs. She also enjoyed flowers, going to garage sales/thrift stores, reading romance novels, and watching the Hallmark Channel. Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was a daughter of the late Wilbert William & Rosie Gertrude Griffis Sloan. She was also preceded in death by her fiance', Jeffrey Pulliam; a daughter, Becky Sosa; two sisters, Joann Jones and Elwanda Melton; and two brothers, John "Punk" Groover and Jed Sloan.

Survivors include a daughter, Celia Davis (Kelly Howard) of Blackshear; a son, Julio Sosa (Kirstin Nester) of Blackshear; two sisters, Sue (George) Berry of Dadeville, AL and Teresa Emmons (Dale Beckham) of Blackshear; a brother, Lloyd Groover of Waycross; a sister-in-law, Terri Sloan of Blackshear; 8 grandchildren, Alexis Palmer, Kaitlynn Palmer, Zachary Palmer, Juan Sosa, Catalina Sosa, Maya Sosa, Greyson Howard, and Bayleigh Howard; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will celebrate Velma's life at a later time.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
