Ronald Dean Shields of Colliers passed away suddenly at the Weirton Medical Center on Friday, August 20, 2021; he was 81 years old.

He was born in Wallace, West Virginia, on November 25, 1939, a son of the late Brant and Ruby Hall Shields.

Ronald was a true outdoorsman. Ronald enjoyed working in his yard in his free time, cutting wood, but especially hunting deer.

He found great joy in the small things in life, spending time with his family and playing his favorite card games.

He spent most of his life in the construction industry, working locally for James White.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his brother Paul Shields, sisters Deloris Gill, Betty Bland, and Dorothy Wells.

He will be remembered with love by his wife, Darlene Gajtka Shields, whom he married on March 3, 1969, daughter Sherry(Matt) Pollock, grandchildren Scott and Megan Pollock, great-grandchildren Cason and Caisely, and sister Belva Barnhart.

Visitation will be Monday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Main Weirton.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home.

Pastor James Rhodes will officiate.

Interment will follow in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
