Dolores J. Thierry, "Dee", nee Hahn, age 89, a longtime resident of Aurora, IL, passed away peacefully from Parkinson's on August 17, 2021 at Belmont Village Senior Living in Carol Stream, IL.

Dee was born on July 16, 1932 on a farm in Deshler, OH. She grew up attending Concordia Lutheran in Ft. Wayne Indiana.

Dee is survived by her loving children, Marc (Kristi) Thierry and Theresa (Craig) Williams; her grandchildren who she adored, Emily, Andrew and Rebekah Thierry, Adeline, Tessa and Malin Williams; her siblings, Sandra (DeWayne) Heckley and David (Leona) Hahn; and many nieces and nephews.

Dee was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, Maurice Thierry; her parents, George and Ida Hahn; her brother, Lester (the late Helen) Hahn; and her siblings-in-law, Richard (the late Patsy) Thierry and Doris (the late Merle) Dickerson.

Dee was extraordinarily loving and caring, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was also strong and resilient, caring for her husband for more than a decade after he suffered a series of strokes and surviving both breast and ovarian cancers. She met all these challenges not only with love but also with grace, courage, positivity, and humor. In doing so, she set a perfect example for her children and grandchildren of how to love life even when it does not go your way.

Dee enjoyed reading, singing, dancing, and watching old movies. She volunteered at her children's schools, worked for 20 years with the FBOP Corporation, and enjoyed eating out and playing cards with her dear friends. But her true passion in life-was her family. She loved making meals for her family, celebrating all the holidays, hosting Easter Egg Hunts, and baking cookies with her grandkids. She also loved comfort food and chocolate both of which she was able to enjoy in her final days in hospice.

Above all, Dee was the best mom and Grammy to her family. She will be deeply missed by all.

For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Dee's life, memorial donations may be directed to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at www.michaeljfox.org
