Mr. Alvis died last Wednesday evening (May 1, 1940) at St. Luke's Hospital, St Louis, following a major operation. He was born September 7, 1889 in Marion County and was married January 11, 1911 to Mollie Hilton (1894-1982). He was a member of the IOOF Lodge.
Surviving are his widow and the following children: Gene and Marjorie at home; Robert, Mahomet; Joe, Mansfield; Mrs. Georgia Wooldridge, Farmer City; Mrs. Jessie Jacobson, Chicago; and Mrs. Katherine Smith, Fisher. He also leaves his father, P. P. Alvis, Kell; four sisters: Mrs. Herschel Ashworth and Mrs. John Ashworth, Kell; Mrs. James Fitzgerald, Dolton Illinois; and Mrs. Mary Myers, Venice; two brothers: Charles and George of Kell. There are five grandchildren.
