Jack was the son of Jerry Don and Sarah Louise Thompson Albretsen. He was a graduate of Ben Lomond High School in Ogden, Utah, where he played in the band and was on the football team. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christs of Latter-day Saints. He married Marie Sanderson in the Salt Lake Temple, and they were blessed with one son and two grandsons.
Jack worked for Subway for 15 years.
