Sherrod Absalom Williams was the son of Absolem "App" Williams and Susannah Holland Williams. His grandparents were Corp. James Sherrod Williams and Mary "Poly" Looney Williams who settled the the Williams Cove area of Winchester, Tennessee after receiving 900 acres of property from Andrew Jackson for services rendered in the War of 1812. They left the legacy of a large family.

He was a farmer by trade. He married Minnie Susan Arendale of Marion County, Tennessee and they lived out their days in Jackson County, Alabama. The two of them are buried adjacent to the grave of her father, James Blackwell Arendale, Jr. who was a 1st Lt. Company C in the Confederate Cavalry. Her mother was Mary Paralee Price Arendale.

They are buried at the Mount Carmel Cemetery adjacent to Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church (it was at one time a Methodist Church). Their homestead was near the Mount Carmel graveyard, to the left as you exit and taking an immediate right and driving toward the end of the road (the original house is no longer there).
