YOAKUM PIONEER WOMAN PASSES AWAY
The funeral services were held this afternoon at two o'clock for Mrs Mary Ida Morris, wife of EW Morris, at Beck's Chapel with Interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev SC Dunn conducting the services. Mrs Morris died Tuesday at noon, aged 67 years at her home on Pineham Street. Mrs Morris was born in Travis County near Austin, but spent her early girlhood near Hochheim at which place she was living with her parents when she married.
The deceased has lived in Yoakum for the past 34 years, residing in the same house for that length of time on Pineham Street. She was a devout member of the Methodist Church, and while yet active was an ardent worker.
She is survived by her husband and five children: three daughters, Mrs Alice Polk of Houston, Mrs Norman Carr of Encinal, Mrs Myrtle Bowen of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sons, Walter Morris and Eugene Morris of Houston: four brothers, Dr EH Schwab of Austin, Sam Schwab of Bryan, Jim Schwab of Victoria and Chas T Schwab of Cuero; four sisters, Mrs Martha Cunningham of Yoakum, Mrs Cora Morgan of Victoria, Mrs Rosa Bellamy of Houston, Mrs Emma Brown and Mrs Lillie Parks of Amarillo, and six grandchildren.
She was the grandaughter of Valetin and Johanna Hoch of Hochheim.
