Laura Dora (Dowty) Bannach, passed away peacefully at the age of 90, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at The Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover with her family by her side. Laura was born on April 16, 1931 in Curtis WI. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Viola (Kobs) Dowty.

Her marriage of 49 years to John F Bannach took place on October 30, 1954 in Genesee Depot WI. After the marriage the couple lived in San Antonio, TX and then spent some time in Germany while John served in the Army before finally settling in Plover. Her husband John passed away on September 20, 2003.

Laura was the eldest of nine, she being the only girl. In her younger years she enjoyed roller skating. Once her and John settled in Plover, she stayed at home caring for their eight children growing a large garden and sewing a majority of their clothing. She enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, sewing and raising many animals, both wild and domestic. With her talent and love of crafting she became a member of Warm up America and Care Wear. She had a passion to meet Bob Barker from the Price Is Right and she made it happen in 2005. In 2006 she was able to take a vacation and enjoyed some time in Maui.

Before marriage she worked at a shoe factory and an envelope making factory. After raising her kids, she was able to work part-time outside the home. She worked in the bakery at Piggly Wiggly, Bernard's Supper Club as a prep cook for weddings and Herrschners as a phone order taker until she chose to retire in 2006.

For the last 5 years The Lodge at Whispering Pines in Plover was her home. While there she enjoyed playing Bingo, puzzles and word search books. She was known as the "greeter" to all the new residents and was given the nickname of Lady Bug.

Loved ones that will miss Laura include her eight children, Robert of Linden NC, Suzette (Michael) Helminiak of Mosinee, Phyllis (Daniel) Weir of Plover, Kenneth of Linden NC, Annette (Ron) Kurszewski of Stevens Point, Michael of Plover, Laurie (Randal) Grezenski of Stevens Point and Carolyn (Armando) Ramon of Plover.
