Michael Wayne "Mick" Allred
1942 - 2021
VETERAN

Early Life: Michael "Mick" was born October 5, 1942, in Lehi, Utah, to Wayne Homer "Tuff" and Jetta Fowler Allred. He spent his younger years on a farm in Lehi; they later moved down into town. Mick had a passion for racing motorcycles and bought his first one at the age of 13.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Following high school graduation, he joined the Army National Guard 1457th Engineers, serving for six years. After high school, he also was president of the Bee's Motorcycle Club and was known for winning almost every race he entered. Mick treasured the collection of 100+ trophies he won during his racing years and loved to share the stories of his glory days with his grandkids, including his famous climb of Widowmaker.
❦ Mick apprenticed at an upholstery shop in his early twenties. Across the street from the upholstery shop was a hair salon where a beautiful blonde worked, who caught his eye. He married Ruthann Thomas on September 7, 1968; they were married just shy of 53 years. Together they had four girls.
❦ Mick loved being outdoors and was a jack-of-all-trades so he worked hard and taught himself how to build a cabin which was his favorite place in the world. He spent many weekends there building swing sets, playhouses, four-wheeler trails, and a zipline for his family. After battling Hodgkin's lymphoma, at the age of 35, Mick was determined to live life to the fullest. Almost every weekend, he and Ruthann would pack up their four daughters and head out on an adventure, including many weekends at the cabin, Lake Powell, trips in the motorhome, riding four-wheelers, snow skiing, and riding snow mobiles.
❦ During Mick's 78 years, he battled Hodgkin's lyphoma, lung cancer, leukemia, asthma, three heart attacks, and a triple bypass. He fought each with courage, determination, and a "never give up" attitude. After retiring from 55 years of upholstery work, Mick bought his Razor off-road vehicle and loved to spend time at Bryce Canyon and Moab with his children and grandchildren. Mick and Ruthann have 18 grandkids and three great-grandkids; they adore them and their grandkids adore them. Mick is a hero to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He taught them all how to work hard and play hard. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knows him. On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Michael Wayne "Mick" Allred, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was 78.
