"Miss Reeder, Donald Simmons are Married in Oklahoma City"
-Miss Betty Ruth Reeder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs T H Reeder of Bison, and Donald George Simmons, son of Mrs Amelia Simmons of Oklahoma City, and E A Simmons, 602 S Hadden, exchanged wedding vows at 8 o'clock Friday evening at the Immanuel Baptist church in Oklahoma City. Rev J Paul Carleton, pastor, assisted by Dr N M Stigler, professor of Bible at Oklahoma Baptist university in Shawnee, officiated at the ceremony before an archway decorated with greenery and flanked by palms and seven-branched candelabra holding white burning tapers. White satin bows marked the pew caps and a white aisle cloth led to the satin-covered prie-dieu. The candles were lighted by Miss Jonnie Ethridge, cousin of the bride, who wore a royal blue dress and a wrist corsage of poinsettia-red carnations. Mary Sue Smith;, flower girl, chose a blue net dress over taffeta and carried a basket of American Beauty rose petals. Her wrist corsage matched her dress. Mrs J S Frank, organist, played a medley of nuptial music preceding the ceremony and accompanied Miss Anne Roberts when she sang "All for you", "The Pledge", and "The Lord' s Prayer". Mrs Frank also played the traditional wedding marches. For her wedding, the bride chose a white satin and nylon net dress. The high neckline of the fitted bodice formed a point in front and was embroidered with seed pearls and crystal beads. Her nylon net overskirt dipped low in bac k to fall in a chapel-length train of the princess style skirt designed with a shorter peplum of nylon net. The bridal veil of illusion fell from a tiara of white sat in embroidered with the seed pearls and crystal beads. Her bouquet of American Beauty rosebuds and stephanotis, showered with white satin streamers tied in love knots, topped a white Bible. Miss Inez Frazier, maid of honor, chose a heavenly blue net dress worn over taffeta. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a low neckline bordered with a stand-up collar and the princess skirt was fashioned like that of the bride's dress. The sleeves were three-quarter length. She carried a muff of matching net and taffeta attached to a large red poinsettia with silver leaves. Bridesmaids were Mrs Merle Tufford, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs Harry Barnes. Their royal blue dresses and matching muffs were styled identically to that worn by the honor attendant. Al Hollenbeck was bestman for the bridegroom and ushers were Ted Reeder of Stillwater, a brother of the bride, Art McElmurry and Merle Tufford. A reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church immediately after the ceremony. The bride's table was covered with a white satin cloth and centered with a pink floral arrangement and a three-tiered wedding cake. Following a wedding trip through the southern states, Mr. and Mrs. Simmons will be at home at 423 Northeast 10, Oklahom a City. The bride was graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University and is now educational director of the Immanuel Baptist church in Oklahoma City. The bridegroom attended the El Reno schools and is a senior at the University of Oklahoma, majoring in business administration. Attending the wedding from El Reno were Mr and Mrs E A Simmons, 602 S Hadden, and Mr and Mrs R E Simmons and children , Glenda [Linda] and Bobby, 1108 West Walnut.
