James Wayne Foster, 64, Lamar, passed away at the Barton County Hospital on Nov. 14, 2007. James was born May 2, 1943, in Kansas City, the son of Arthur and Marie Foster.

James graduated from the Northeast High School in Kansas City. He Joined the Marines in 1966 and served until 1969. James served in the Marines again from 1973 through 1975. He worked for CSX Railroad from 1976 through 1988 and retired.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Marie, and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth J. Hamilton.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Mae Foster, of the home; one brother, Roy D. Foster and family – of Georgia; one sister, Doris Roth and family – Kansas City, KS; one son, Jimmy Johnson – Lamar; three daughters, Tammie Harves – Concordia, Linda Orent – Kansas City, KS, and Debra Reid – Colorado; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mary Sparks – Carthage; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Hackleman Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Published in the El Dorado Springs Sun, November 25, 2007
