Death of a Pioneer
Andrew Wilcott, who was one of the pioneers of this section, died at the home of his son, Solomon Wilcott, in the town of Lincoln, at an early hour on Sunday morning, at the advanced age of 81 years. He had been a strong and healthy man all his life and it was only for the past six months that his health failed him, when he was taken down with dropsy, from which he died. Mr. Wilcott came to this section of the country about twenty years ago, and settled when all was yet a dense wilderness. He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn his death. The funeral took place on Monday forenoon from the Catholic church in this city and was largely attended. The children are all, with the exception of one, living near here. They are, Mrs. Simon Cournoyer, of this city, Solomon and Peter Wilcott, of Lincoln, Mrs. David Dupee of the town of Wood, Mrs. Dennis Cournoyer and Mrs. Leo Trudeau, of Lincoln, Jos. Wilcott of Stratford and Andrew Wilcott, who lives out in the state of Washington. The relatives have the sympathy of the community.
