Sonda Meehl of Oakes, ND, passed away August 15, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Oakes, under the care of hospice and surrounded by family.
Sonda Lou Middlestead, daughter of Alfred and Jessie (Curtis) Middlestead was born August 27, 1940 at Ellendale, ND. She grew up and attended school in Fullerton through the 8th grade and Oakes High School from 1954 to 1957. She married Robert Meehl in 1957. They made their home in Oakes, where they raised their four children. Over the years, Sonda enjoyed working at multiple retail stores in the area.
She also enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, cooking, entertaining and making their house a home. What she loved the most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Sonda was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Bob; four children, Michael (Rosary) Meehl, West Fargo, ND, Tami (Wayne) Even, Las Vegas, NV, Shelly (Terry) Beckstrom, Oakes, and Bobby Meehl, Eden Prairie, MN; one sister, Erlaine Hajek, Pendleton, OR; one brother, Eldon Middlestead, Beaverton, OR; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren plus one on the way. Sonda was preceded in death by her mom & dad and the rest of her heavenly family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Oakes followed by burial at Oakes View Cemetery. Sonda's service will be live streamed on her obituary page.
