"St Matthew's. February 7--Special: One of Calhoun County's most prominent citizens, Capt. J. Keith Hane, died yesterday morning at his residence in the Fort Motte section. He was in his 65th year, and was a large and successful farmer, owning a splendid plantation. His first wife was Miss Townsend, daughter of Dr. Townsend, of James Island. His second wife was Miss Marianna Darby, daughter of Dr. Darby, a prominent physician of Fort Motte. He entered the army at Secessionville as a mere boy and fought bravely throughout the war. He was a member of the Episcopal Church and was prominent in its councils. He is survived by one son and four daughters."
