Louisa was the daughter of Spencer and Elizabeth Landon Carter Ball and second wife of William James Weir. They married in 1842 but had no children together. (Louisa was a cousin to Weir's first wife, Harriet Bladen Mitchell Weir.) During the Civil War, the Weir family left Prince William County and moved to their new home in Fluvanna County, Virginia, called Union Hall, where they remained for the duration of the war and after. William Weir died at Liberia in 1867 while visiting his family. Though no obituary has been found, it is presumed that Louisa Ball Weir died at Union Hall. A survey of the Portici/Ball Family Cemetery conducted in 1937 identified Louisa's grave. The survey can be found here: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/princewilliam/cemeteries/portici.txt
