Thomas W. Butcher, president of the Teachers College, has received word of the death of his uncle, Preston Butcher, 89, at Sedan Monday evening. Preston Butcher died unexpectedly as he was leaving a moving picture theater. He had been a resident of Chautauqua county for more than 30 years and he was well-known in both Sumner and Phillips counties, where he had lived. Mr. Butcher was a Civil war veteran and had lived in Kansas for 30 years. John Butcher, president of the Teachers College at Edmund, Okla., is a son. Thomas W. Butcher will go to Sedan to attend the funeral services.
