In the California, U.S., Mortuary and Cemetery Records, 1801-1932 database, he is incorrectly listed as "Media" Comstock with a birthplace of Missouri but in the 4 April 1855 edition of the Sacramento Daily Union he's listed as "Comstock Medad" with a letter to pick up at the Post Office so this is the correct person.
He married Abigail B. Woodworth around 1820 but she died in 1822. Together, they had one daughter in 1821 named Pamelia (maybe Parmelia). He then married Maria Sage in Galena, Illinois, on 20 March 1826 and they had six known children as follows:
1. Abigail Belinda - b. 1826
2. Lucian Bonaparte - b. 1828
3. Elizabeth Anne - b. 1829
4. James Jerome - b. 1832
5. George Y. - b. 1833
6. Benjamin F.
Medad was a soldier in the Black Hawk War and then went to California with the Gold Rush. Reportedly, he died by drowning. Burial here is presumed and has not been verified.
