"Mrs. Martha Jane Martin, 89, Appleton City, Mo., formerly of Clay and Platte Counties , died Thursday at a nursing home in Appleton City. He was born in Clay County and had lived in Clay and Platte Counties most of her life before moving to Appleton City 12 years ago. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Appleton City Christian Church. She leaves her husband, Albert Martin of the home; two sons, Hugh E. Martin and Gerald R. Martin of Kansas City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Eckhoff-Hill Chapel, Appleton City, and at 2 p.m. at the graveside at East Slope Memorial Gardens, Riverside." The Kansas City Times, December 27, 1980
