Francis E. Powell,88,91 E. Ind. 28, died 7:45 a.m. Saturday,
Aug. 27,2005, at Autumnwood at Tipton Hospital. He was born
April 29,1917, in Tipton County to Walter C. and Estella M. (Henry) Powell. On Oct.30,1945, he married Betty Jo Crail and she died Aug. 27,1998. He was a life-long farmer and a
retired custodian at Tipton Community Schools. He was a member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipton and
served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Francis is survived by two daughters and six sons, Dorothy McAdams and husband Joe, Steve Powell and wife Karen, Bill Powell
and wife Carol, Dan Powell and wife Susan, David Powell, Jeff Powell, Kevin Powell, and Beth Rippy and husband
Ernie, all of Tipton; one sister, Thelma Koors, Tipton.
He also is survived by 15 grandchildren, Angle Hill, Amy
McAdams, Greg Powell, Kyle Powell, Eric Powell, Julie Powell, Brad Powell, Kim Nunemacher, Kristen Noble, Melissa Ewers, Paul Powell, Andrew Powell, Macayla Powell, Jordan Rippy and Kody Rippy; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers, Berniece Tebbe, Lester Powell, Gene Powell and Harold Powell. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 340 Mill Street, Tipton, with the Rev. Leroy Kinnaman. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 215 West Jefferson St., Tipton, with a wake service at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
