Kotrba, Violet Lucille

January 9, 1924 - April 23, 2022

Violet Lucille Kotrba, age 98, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, died peacefully on April 23, 2022 in the home on the farm where she lived. She was born in this same house to Adolph and Nellie Arp on January 9, 1924. Violet graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1940. In 1945, Violet met Martin J. Kotrba who was on leave in Omaha from the Navy and two weeks later they married. Together they owned and operated Midwest Marine Wonderland in Omaha. Violet was an artist who used her talents to draw and craft leather goods, but her main passion in her last 40 years was in growing plants and holding an annual plant sale.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Martin (2003), and her oldest daughter, Janice (2021). She is survived by her son, Dennis and wife, Penny; daughter, Joan and husband, William; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Robert, and a great-nephew.

VISITATION with the family, Friday, 5-7pm, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, 11am, at the funeral home. Interment: Plummer Settlement Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to Salem Lutheran Church, Plummer Settlement.
