According to his Civil War muster rolls, Wiseman Curbow was born some time around 1820 in Georgia, probably north Georgia area. His parentage is unproven, but it is possible that he is the son of Henry Curbow who died in Cass County in May of 1850. Wise married in Georgia and this first wife is not identified. He had one son with her, Tilman David Curbow, born in 1845 (probably named after his uncle Tilman P. Curbow born about 1821). By 1850, Wiseman is a widower; his son is 5 years old; and they can be found together in Bowie County, Texas census records. Sometime in 1850 or 1851, Wiseman married Emeline Parker (1828-1898). The couple had the following children: Sarah Elizabeth born 1852; William S. born 1855; Rebecca Ann born 1856; James Benton born 1895; and John Henry born 1869. Wiseman Curbow served along side his brother Tilman P. Curbow in the Civil War. He served with Hubbard's Company, 2nd Battalion Calvary, Texas State Troops.
