P.B. Baker, Pioneer Resident, Dies At Home of Son Here.
Pahhawson Boodler Baker, 75 years old, died Sunday morning at the home of his son, Phil Baker, 13 miles east of Arkansas City, after an illness of several weeks.
Born at Clarendon, Iowa, July 15, 1866, Mr. Baker came with his mother to Cowley county in the late '70's. He was married Nov. 18, 1888, to Annis Isabelle Sharp at Columbus, Kas., and returned to Cowley county in 1902.
He moved the family to Arkansas City in 1913 from a farm west of the city. He worked for the Shell Petroleum Company in Oklahoma for 18 years and retired in Arpil of 1940 following the death of his wife.
Mr. Baker was a member of the Methodist church, O.E.S.M. of Dexter, A.F. and A.M. of Maple City and the Royal Arch chapter of Augusta.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Gertie Gibson, Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Bessie Mohler, Shawnee, Okla.; five sons, Orville, Lincoln, Jack, Phil, and Fern, all of the Arkansas City area, a sister, Mrs. Nellie Scott, Atlanta, Kas., and 10 grandchildren and six great-granchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Central Christian church, with the Rev. C.D. Walker officiating. Interment will be at Parker cemetery. The Jess Rindt Mortuary is in charge.
