Guy Clifton Bowman, 87, of Marigold Lane, Ararat, died Monday, November 19, 2007, at Northern Surry Hospital of Surry County.
He was born October 24, 1920 in Patrick County and was a son of the late George Thomas Bowman and Zelphia Mae Montgomery Bowman. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gaston Bowman; and four sisters, Vera Eaton, Leah Martin, Josie Bowman, and Lena Bowman.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War Ii and was retired from Renfro Hosiery. He was a member of the Doe Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie Mae Chaney Bowman of the home; one daughter, Tammy Bowman of Walnut Cove, N.C.; one son, Thomas F. Bowman of Mount Airy, N.C.; one sister, Beatrice J. Bowman of Stuart; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Howell Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy. The Revs. Steve McCreary and Dean Eaton and Bro. Don Collins will officiate. Burial, with full military rites conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post # 2019 of Mount Airy and Post # 9436 of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; will be in the Bowman family cemetery in Ararat.
