Lois Maxine (Green) McMain 93 of Ankeny, Iowa and formerly of Centerville, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 3, 2021 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
A celebration of life will take place at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale ,Iowa on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 1-3 pm
Lois was born on August 24, 1927, the youngest of 11 children. She was a coal miners daughter and as she would say "not Loretta Lynn", but was very proud of her heritage.
Lois graduated from Centerville High School in 1945.
On November 16, 1946 she married James Daniel McMain after he served in WW II with the Army Air Force. They were married for 64 years prior to his death in 2010.
After graduating from Americana Beauty school in 1959, she owned and operated Lois's Beauty Salon in the Highland Park area in Des Moines, Iowa. Later she worked at Greyhound Accounting in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Survivors include her son Randy (Sue) and daughter Shari; grandsons Kurt (Tammy), Bret (Tania); granddaughter Amanda (Al); great grandsons Branden & Luke. Great granddaughters Kala & Mya great great grandchildern Emma Jane, Rylee Dawn & Mason. She also had nieces Silvanna Tjepkes, Bonnie Green & Amy Shoppa-Testrake and nephews Erna Matthews and John (Jamie) Matthews, Max (Jean) Cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband James in(2010) and son Greg McMain in (2017); her parents Delcie and William Green, 7 sisters and 3 brothers.
