Norma Sivia (Casity) Summy was born on March 24, 1932 in Hallet, Oklahoma to Clarence "Squirrel" and Edna "Dutch" (Fox) Casity. She went to her heavenly home on August 6, 2021 in Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of 89.
Norma attended high school at White Oak and was a select member of the first "Rapid Calculation Team" in the state of Oklahoma. Later she attended Northeastern A&M and Rogers University where she was a Presidential Scholar. She and her daughter, Telia, attended Rogers State at the same time.
Norma loved to travel and as a young child, she saw most of the country with her family, when her dad was an inspector for a pipeline; she would tell people she grew up on Rt. 66. Later in life, she traveled abroad with her daughter.
Norma was a very kind and giving lady and she touched the lives of many. She and her late husband, Monte, started dances and parties for senior citizens in Pryor and surrounding areas that lasted over 10 years. The dances were western swing themed and included all the delicious food you could eat. Norma was always the hostess with the most-est.
She and her only child, Telia, were very close and were blessed with a relationship that they both cherished. She was Telia's biggest fan and best friend. They made numerous trips to Nashville for Telia's singing. Norma sewed all Telia's stage outfits and coached all her performances. She completely created her outfit for her appearance on Hee Haw. The two of them made memories that will last a lifetime.
She was a member of Life Fellowship Church in Pryor and previously a member of First Baptist Church in Pryor. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association in Cleveland, Oklahoma, Eastern Star, Chamber of Commerce in Pryor and a proud OSU Mom. She was an active volunteer in political campaigns and a guest at the First Lady's Luncheon in Washington D.C.
In Norma's early years, she owned several beauty salons and she and Monte were the successful owners of Pryor Jewelry for 32 years, retiring in 1998. Norma's other interests included oil painting, artwork and crafts.
Norma will always be remembered for her love of people, her compassion and kindness and for being the greatest mother a girl could ever want. She was a precious gift and although she is gone, it is only for a little while.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Telia Lewis and husband Don of Pryor and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Monte, in 2017; her sister, Donna McSpadden and brother-in-law, Clem McSpadden and nephew, Bart McSpadden.
