1850 census of Dover, Piscataquis, Maine p275A: Wm Plummer, age 62, born in Durham, Androscoggin, Maine, mason, listed with wife, Betsey, 63.

1870 census of Dover, Piscataquis, Maine p33-34: Wm Plummer, age 83, born in Durham, Androscoggin, Maine, brick mason, listed with him is son, Henry, 30 and his wife, Lydia, 28 and their daughter, Mitie, 4.

Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 19 Apr 1877 p2: "A SMART OLD GENTLEMAN---The smartest old gentleman we know of in this county, of his age, is, we believe, Capt. Wm. Plummer, of this village. Mr. Plummer will be ninety-one years old the 27th of next month, and may still be found, all harnessed, so to speak, and with trowel and brush in hand ready for the battle of life as of yore. One day last week this old gentleman performed a piece of work at our dwelling of which many young men might well be proud,---laboring from early morn until six at night, and appearing a [sic] the close of his day's work very little fatigued. If there is a smarter old gentleman existing in Maine we should be happy to hear from him.

Mr. Plummer is a picture of health, with unimpaired sight and hearing. He bids fair, with a little care, to live many years longer."

Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 24 Jul 1879 p3: "Capt. Wm. Plummer, who is 93 years old, occasionally makes a call at the village stores, but is still very feeble and gradually failing."

Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 23 Oct 1879 p3: "Capt. Wm. Plummer who is in his 94th year is quite lively of late. We hear that he helped gather Norton's beets the other day."

Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 19 Feb 1880 p3: "Capt. Wm. Plummer, who was probably the oldest person in Dover, died at about 7:30 on Monday morning. Mr. Plummer was born in Durham, Maine, May 26, 1787, and consequently lacked but a few months of being 93 years of age. He was a resident of this town [Dover] over thirty years, where he has always pursued the trade of brick mason. He has always been regarded here as a man of excellent principles and scrupulously honest in his dealings with mankind. We believe it can be truly said of Capt. Plummer, that he had not an enemy. Funeral services were held at deceased's late residence, Wednesday afternoon."
