Joseph Jackson Morrow, 89, went home to be with his Lord Friday, June 30, 2006 at a Cordele Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 3P.M. at First Baptist Church of Perry, GA. Interment will follow in Perry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday..

The family suggests contributions to Penia Baptist Church building fund, Cordele, Gideon's, or United Hospice. -

Rev. Morrow was born to the late Inzie (Matchett) and Joseph Jackson Morrow, Sr. on January 20, 1917 in Fort Ogden, Florida.

Rev. Morrow was an alumnus of Mercer University of Macon, a retired Southern Baptist pastor, and also retired from Robins Air Force Base. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corporation, and a member of the American Legion post in Perry.

Rev. Morrow pastored churches including Richland Baptist Church in Florida, Dames Ferry Baptist Church, New Haven Baptist in Gordon, Marie Baptist in Dublin, Cool Springs Baptist, Summertown Baptist, First Baptist Church of Haynesville, Riverside Baptist Church in Hawkinsville, Houston Lake Baptist Church in Perry, Hemptown Baptist in Morganton, Community Baptist and Midway Baptist in Perry.

He retired after fifty years in the ministry, but continued to serve God by teaching Sunday school to residents at Autumn Terrace Assisted Living as well as several shut-ins.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ilene S. Morrow, Cordele; two sons, Jack (Johnnie) Morrow of Savannah and Allen (Nickie) Morrow of Cordele; two daughters, Randa (Willard) Parker of Perry and Alyce (Gregg) Banks of Lizella; brothers, Arthur (Loraine) Morrow of Florida and Hilliard (Carolyn) Morrow of North Carolina; sister Oma Lee Gray of Florida; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Aileen Mardis, a brother, Mervin Morrow, and a brother-in-law, James Pete Gray.
