Glenn L. Adamson, age 68, Elizabeth IL passed away Friday, January 6th, 2017 at Finley Hospital in Dubuque IA.
Glenn will be cremated at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Elizabeth. The memorial service has been temporarily postponed due to a family illness. We will update the memorial service information as soon as it becomes available.
Glenn was born on December 23rd, 1948, in Fargo, ND, he is the son of Gus and Alma Adamson.
Glenn graduated in 1966 from Moorhead High School located in Moorhead, MN. After high school, Glenn enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He also went on to post secondary education for broadcasting at Brown Institute. Glenn was married twice in his life. His first was to Sheila (King) Adamson which brought the only daughter, Amy, he had in his life; son, Joseph was born not long after. Glenn married Sandra (Stebbins) Albrecht on September 5th, 1992 in Fort Worth, TX. Glenn and Sandra celebrated 24 years of marriage. Moving from Fort Worth to Elizabeth they owned and operated the Corral Supper Club. Glenn later went on to work in food services for the Silver Eagle Casino in East Dubuque until they closed and then moved to the Dubuque Greyhound Park. Glenn also drove truck, for DHL in Texas, Reinhart Foodservice in Illinois and as an owner/operator of an over the road semi truck. Glenn was a member of the Forty and Eight club and served as the Grande Chef de Gare Passe for the state of Illinois in 2007. Additionally, he belonged to the Stockton American Legion and the Elizabeth Lions Club in which he served as president. Glenn sincerely believed in giving back to others and everyone who knew Glenn knew they had a friend if they were ever in need. One of Glenn's passions was to help and serve children. He helped families and children in need, even if it was just to dress up as a clown.
Glenn will be dearly missed by his wife, Sandra; a daughter, Amy (Robert) Lockhart; a son, Joseph (April) Adamson; two stepsons, Scott (Barbara) Albrecht and Steven Albrecht; thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Glenn is preceded in death by both parents; a sister, Lana Shaw and a brother, Harlan Thompson.
