Joyce Dean Gibson, age 89, of Detroit, passed away, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at her residence. She was born, November 27, 1931, in Red River County to Herman "Slick" and Agnes Elson Guess.

Joyce was a member of the Leesville Baptist Church and was known for giving big hugs! Mrs. Gibson was an accomplished cross-stitcher and a member of the Woodland Caring and Sharing Quilter's Club. Joyce loved sports and was an avid Detroit Eagle fan and had every shirt the Detroit Athletic Department ever sold. She collected salt and pepper shakers and owls. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the lights of her life.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Jimmy, Dale, Herman, Jr., and Don Guess; sister, Nina Hays; grandson, Kristopher Chad Gibson; sister-in-law's, Ruby Ross and Kaylen Goss and Norma Gibson; brother-in-law's, Donald Porterfield, Pete Brown, Arthur Gibson and L.B. Fleming.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Calvin Gibson of Detroit; son, Ricky Gibson and wife, Melissa of Detroit; 2 grandchildren, Timothy Aaron Gibson and wife, Carla of Collinsville, Oklahoma and Kristea Gibson Johnston and husband, Chadlee of Paris; great grandchildren, Sabe Reddy, Zack Gibson, Tyler Gibson and Ava Jo Gibson; sisters, Mary Jo Porterfield of Bogata and Betty Sue Watts and husband, James A. of Bogata; brothers, George Ray Guess of Bogata, Roger Guess of Bogata and Gary Guess and wife, Ayesha of Bogata; sister-in-law's, Bonnie Guess and Margie Fleming.

Funeral services are set for 10:00 A.M, Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Leesville Baptist Church with Rev. Neal Seaborn and Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
