Obituary
Unidentified Newsclipping - 1876
Alexander Hartsuff died in Tyre, New York January 6, 2876, 74 years. Quiet, peaceful, unostentatious and eminently devoted, ungodly men acknowledged that he was a Christian. Forty years ago well on his way with rope in hand, to commit suicide, which he had fully determined upon, so deep were his convictions, and dark his prospects, he heard the voice of prayer, was constrained to go in, and that night was saved in a marked and very positive conversion. He had been a class-leader for thirty years, without interruption, and watched over his class with unusual care. Death found him ready. His last words to his pastor were, "Jesus is waiting to waft my soul away."
