Born March 29, 1927, in Souderton, Pennsylvania, to parents Milton and Sadie (Booz) Styer, he was the younger of two children. Dick was a graduate of Souderton High School, Class of 1945. Upon graduation, he enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corps in the final days of World War II.
After serving in the armed forces for a brief period, Dick enrolled in night school at the Lansdale School of Business, earning an Accountant Degree in 1948 while simultaneously working for B. R. Scholl Trucking Co.
He married Nancy (Bossert) Styer, a homemaker from North Wales, PA, in May 1949. He was a devoted husband for 71 years who provided for a family of six boys. Dick eventually went on to found his own accounting business, Richard B. Styer & Associates, in 1968.
Dick was an active member of St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sellersville, PA, where he served as an Usher and on the Church Council.
He was a member of the Nase-Kraft American Legion Post No. 255, Sellersville, PA, and the Indian Valley Kiwanis Club, Souderton. His hobbies included skiing, golfing, reading, travelling extensively throughout Europe and Australia in retirement, and spending time in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Styer and his wife Carol, of Perkasie, PA, and James Styer, of Grand Forks, North Dakota; six grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Alex (spouse Stephanie), Whitney, Alicia (spouse John) Pernini, and Kimberly; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Caroline and Finley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; four sons, Joseph, Mark, Thomas and David; a grandson, Phillip; and a sister, Mildred.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Services that will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, where friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. or Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Tohickon Union Cemetery, Weisel, PA.
